Manipur is a state located in upper east India with Imphal being the capital. The state is at some point called as Kangleipak or Sanaleibak. Imphal West is a valley district where the capital of the state, Imphal, is situated. The district has an area of 519 sq. km. and ranks seventh in terms of area and covers only 2.32 percent of the total area of the state.

Out of total population, 70.79% of population lives in Urban area and 29.21% lives in Rural area. The density of population per sq.km. It has 998 persons against the state density of 128 persons. As per the Census India 2011, Manipur has 5,57,859 households, population of 28,55,794 of which 14,38,586 are males and 14,17,208 are females.
